Motivated by a life experience in his youth that could have diverted him down a self-destructive path, and inspired by those who intervened at this pivotal moment in his life, Kenroy has devoted his time and skills to creating opportunities to improve the well-being and quality of life of others.

Kenroy founded The Wilson Project Employment and Training Centre, named in memory of his father, Ralph Wilson. The Wilson Project Employment and Training Centre provides job training and life skills development for at-risk youth within the community. The project also serves youth who are frustrated, distracted or have been in trouble with the law. Kenroy’s mentorship provides these individuals with renewed opportunities for a safe, productive and healthy future.

Kenroy has also championed many community safety initiatives within his neighbourhood. He has served as a volunteer with the local Neighbourhood Watch, quickly moving up to Block Captain and was promoted to a Police Volunteer with Durham Regional Police Services (DRPS). Kenroy regularly assists with DRPS events in the community including Crime Prevention Training, the “Lock It Up or Lose It” campaign, Anti-Bullying campaign, Racing Against Drugs as well as, active shooters training, to name a few.

He can also been seen traveling door-to-door educating residents on how to protect their homes and property. Kenroy has organized a number of community social events over the past years that have assisted to build capacity by creating closer relationships between neighbours and providing a sense of safety and trust within the neighbourhood. Through his outreach efforts, Kenroy has successfully broken down barriers within his neighbourhood and the larger Ajax community, allowing residents to form relationships, promote a healthier, stronger and a more vibrant neighbourhood, as well as creating a friendly and active community where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen.

Kenroy serves as a community leader with The Town of Ajax and has been named as a Canada 150 community Leader for the 150th anniversary of confederation for the Town of Ajax. He is also a Member of the Durham District School Board Equity Steering Committee among others. He is a licensed mechanic and entrepreneur - owner of Ken Cos Car Care Inc. and The Wilson Project Inc., At present, he is the Diverse Reintegration Coordinator with Community Justice Alternatives of Durham Region.

Kenroy firmly believes that “Just Because You Lose A Life, Doesn’t Mean You Can ’ t Save One”.
